Checking up on Einstein
This year, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the British Solar Eclipse expedition of 1919. This 4-minute film explores the expedition's observations of the gravitational deflection of light near the Sun, and their significance as the first successful test of Einstein's general theory of relativity — after all, this was what catapulted Einstein to world fame! The film includes custom-made, fully relativistic simulations of light propagation in the vicinity of a black hole.
A German version is available.
