Zooming in on the nearby star AU Microscopii
This video clip takes the viewer from a broad view of the entire southern Milky Way into a closeup of the nearby star AU Microscopii, about 32 light-years from Earth. This star is young and surrounded by a dusty disc that features odd wave-like, rapidly moving features that are imperfectly understood.
