Wide-field view of the sky around the young star HD 100546
This picture shows the sky around the young star HD 100546 in the southern constellation of Musca (The Fly). It was created from images from the Digitized Sky Survey 2. The cross-like features that are centred on brighter stars, as well as the coloured circles around them, are artifacts of the telescope and photographic process and are not real.
