PI230

The PI230 receiver is mounted in the Nasmyth–B cabin of the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope on the Chajnantor plateau, in Chile’s Atacama region in 2015. It is a collaboration between ESO and the Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie (MPIfR).

It is a 230 GHz dual polarisation heterodyne system with 9.37 mm (32 GHz) bandwidth and 524 288 spectral channels. The receiver covers the spectral window of 1.11 to 1.54 mm (195–270 GHz) and uses a sideband-separating (2SB) type of mixer.

The PI230 receiver is a replacement of the SHeFI/APEX-1 receiver.
