El Comité Mixto ESO-Gobierno de Chile 2025 anuncia a sus ganadores

El Comité Mixto ESO-Gobierno de Chile ha dado a conocer los resultados de su concurso nacional para el período 2025, en el que se repartirán más de 600 millones de pesos. Los fondos se invertirán en iniciativas dedicadas a promover la difusión de la astronomía y de proyectos científicos en Chile y a apoyar programas de post doctorado en astronomía en instituciones chilenas. 

Este año se recibieron 98 propuestas admisibles. Casi el 44% de las postulaciones financiadas fueron propuestas para la difusión y la educación sobre astronomía, mientras que el 38% se destinará a financiar programas de post doctorado en astronomía y a proyectos de desarrollo tecnológico en instituciones chilenas. 

Este fondo ha sido una herramienta fundamental para el desarrollo de la astronomía en Chile, no solo por contribuir a la creación de puestos académicos en universidades chilenas y al desarrollo tecnológico relacionado con la astronomía, sino también por su difusión. En los próximos años, esta será un área muy importante para la comunidad chilena, con la próxima celebración de la Asamblea General de la Unión Astronómica Internacional (IAU) en 2030 en Chile”, señaló Itziar de Gregorio Monsalvo, representante de ESO en Chile, tras la entrega de los resultados. 

Desde 1996, el Comité Mixto ESO-Gobierno de Chile es uno de los principales fondos para el desarrollo de la astronomía, ya que apoya programas posdoctorales y puestos académicos en el área en instituciones chilenas. Además, financia visitas científicas nacionales y extranjeras, demostradores de tecnología, junto con programas educativos para la enseñanza y difusión de esta ciencia en el país. 

El Comité Mixto ESO-Gobierno de Chile está compuesto por representantes de ESO y del Gobierno de Chile, a través de la Dirección de Energía, Ciencia y Tecnología e Innovación del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, el Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología, Conocimiento e Innovación y la Sociedad Chilena de Astronomía.
