This drone image, taken in 2022, shows the summit of Cerro Paranal in Chile, home to ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT). The VLT comprises four 8.2-m Unit Telescopes and four movable 1.8-m Auxiliary Telescopes. The rightmost telescope is the VLT Survey Telescope. In the background, the Sun is about to set over the cloud-covered Pacific Ocean.
