First large VLT mirror successfully coated
Coating of the zerodur mirror, in preparation for First Light of the first VLT unit telescope. Securely held by the clamps of the Handling Device, the fragile mirror is lifted off the active supports in the cell. (Photo obtained on May 19, 1998).
