Zooming in on the red giant star L2 Puppis

This zoom video sequence takes the viewer from a broad vista of the southern Milky Way into a rich part of the constellation of Puppis. We finish with a very close-up look at the red giant star L2 Puppis, which is coming to the end of its life and probably starting to create a bipolar planetary nebula.
