2.3-metre Aristarchos telescope, Greece
This telescope, sited at the Helmos Observatory in Greece, is named after the ancient Greek astronomer and mathematician Aristarchos. He described the first recorded model of the known Universe that placed the Sun at the centre of the system of planets, and in which the distant stars were seen as bodies like the Sun.
