The Pencil Nebula in the southern constellation of Vela (The Sails)
This chart shows the location of the Pencil Nebula (NGC 2736) in the constellation of Vela (The Sails). This map shows most of the stars visible to the unaided eye under good conditions, and the location of the Pencil Nebula is highlighted with a red circle on the image. This faint nebula requires dark skies and a powerful telescope to make it visible as a long dim streak.
