Highlights of the HAWK-I infrared image of Messier 83
Some highlights from the infrared view of the classic spiral galaxy Messier 83 taken with the HAWK-I camera on ESO’s Very Large Telescope. As well as showing the structure of the galaxy without the obscuring effect of dust, huge numbers of stars within the galaxy are revealed.
