The VLT on the Paranal platform
This image shows the four large Unit Telescopes and the four smaller Auxiliary telescopes that make up ESO’s Very Large Telescope. Standing on the left and ready to observe, is the Unit Telescope 1, the first to be completed. It started operating 25 years ago this week.
