APEX–2A

The APEX–2A instrument was mounted on the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope on the Chajnantor plateau, in Chile’s Atacama region in the Summer of 2005.

It was a 345 GHz band heterodyne receiver developed by the GARD group at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden and was set up at the Nasmyth–A focus of APEX, having a tuning range between 1.07 mm (279 GHz) and 0.79 mm (381 GHz).

The receiver could be used in different observing modes and patterns that allowed observations of a fixed position, on a grid or in a continuous scanning mode.

The APEX–2A instrument was decommissioned in 2008 and replaced by SHeFI/APEX–2.
