Mirror installed on first VLT Unit Telescope
After an uneventful ascent to the platform at the top of Paranal, the M1 Cell and the Zerodur mirror, well protected under a heavy canvas cover, are deposited under the bottom end of the UT1 telecope tube. The Cell was then lifted and fixed to the telescope. (Photo obtained on April 16, 1998).
