ESOcast 78: Airglow Mystery

4 novembre 2015

The sites of ESO’s observatories in Chile were chosen for their minimal light pollution and pristine night skies. However, strange green and red colours in images of the night sky have become an increasingly common sight over the past few years. This ESOcast takes a look at what causes these mysterious glows, and why we are seeing more and more of them.
